How to Make a Schematic in Minecraft
Create a block layout, check the exact materials, export a `.schem` file and test it in your chosen Java world.
1. Make a flat block layout
Open the image to Minecraft schematic tool, select 2D Pixel Art and upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP image. Choose wall or floor orientation. This makes a single plane, not a 3D building.
2. Inspect the blocks
Review the preview, dimensions and material counts. You can replace one material across the layout, then save the updated project.
3. Export Sponge v2
Download the Java `.schem` file. The current writer targets Minecraft Java 1.20.1 data version 3465 and checks the binary by reading it back. It uses a limited set of concrete blocks and air.
4. Import in a test world
Back up your world, place the `.schem` in the schematic folder used by your WorldEdit installation, then load and paste it according to that installation’s commands. Exact paths and commands vary by WorldEdit release. Four fixtures passed server import and exact block checks on Java 1.20.1 with Fabric and WorldEdit 7.2.15. Client visual checks and other versions remain unverified; try a small layout first.
